Kind Bars

Everyone knows that I’m a big fan of bars. I mean, what’s not to like? They’re fairly low in calories, easy to transport, and just a great snack to bring to the office. If one snack could win best all around snack…like the Miss. Congeniality of snacks, bars would be the winner.

Anyway, I’m pretty picky with bars (we’re allowed to be picky when there are so many to choose from, though), and LUNA has always been my go-to bar. LUNA…I still love ya, but I’ve got another little friend named the Kind Bar, and I can’t get enough.

I initially hated the idea of a Kind Bar because I didn’t like the way it looked. Sticky granola? No thanks. But when pickings are slim, (like they are at the delis in the Meatpacking District), you resort to things you never thought you’d try. That’s how I got started, and now I’m hooked.

The thing is, they really are just like pieces of granola stuck together, but what’s so bad about that? NOTHING. That’s what. They’re freaking delicious. There’s something about the whole nuts in a Kind Bar that make you feel like you’re eating a bit more than bar, and it’s totally satisfying.

I have to admit that I haven’t tried too many of the flavors, but my all-time favorite is the Almond and Coconut flavor. It’s just so delicious. It literally tastes like candy.

Kind Bars are sold pretty widely (as far as I can tell), and they offer a nuttier and more filling alternative to some of the other bars in town. Depending on the flavor, the bars have different nutritional benefits and different calorie counts, but the Almond and Coconut has 4g of fiber and 4g of protein (and under 200 cals)….so basically, I’m sold!
