The Great Escape: Express Facials

Aside from the end of the day, which is clearly the best part, lunchtime is one of the high points in a work day. It’s the only time when you can leave the office and do whatever your heart desires (within the allotted time). Sitting all day isn’t good for your body, staring at a computer screen for hours at a time can tire your eyes, and being in the office all day can kill your soul, so you should make every possible effort to leave during your break.

One of the best lunchtime escapes is the quick facial. A facial typically costs over $100, lasts for at least an hour, and is extremely relaxing; thankfully, express facials cost half as much, last half as long, yet still leave your skin and mind renewed and refreshed.

Unlike regular facials, extractions are not a feature of express facials so you don’t have to worry about returning to the office with a red, puffy face or irritated skin. Express facials primarily consist of cleansing, exfoliation, and a mask; not all express facials include massages, but it’s definitely possible to find one that does (Bliss Spa’s 49th Street location has several facials with massages). Within thirty minutes, your skin will be cleansed, toned, purified, and moisturized.

Express facials are a great treat in the summertime, when you’re sweating and your face feels generally icky. They’re also a great reward for yourself if you bring your lunch to work instead of ordering or buying. On average, express facials cost between $45 and $60, which, depending on where you live, is the amount of money you spend weekly on buying or ordering lunch.

In addition to the obvious physical benefits, facials are great for relaxing and eliminating stress in the middle of your day. You’ll return to the office with a beautiful face and an energized mind and before you know it, you’ll be done with work! If your lunch break isn’t long enough, go for an express facial after you’re done working; you’ll still be able to reap the benefits without worrying about returning to the office in time.
